I recently visited Montreal and had the opportunity to see the work of GHADA AMER at the Musee Musee d'art contemporain. She is an egyptian artist working in NY, who "paints" with thread, embroidering the canvas. Her use of colour, pattern and scale are amazing!
...and last night I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a talk at OCADU (Toronto), with Ghada Amer and Reza Farkhondeh, about their work collaboration. So I met Ghada in person! and had the chance to tell her how much she has inspired me! I'm so lucky!
I have also been researching the work of MARK FAST, a great Canadian knitwear designer!
